What is the YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir?

The YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir (YPJK) is a registered, nonprofit, nonpolitical Trust and a dynamic platform for young people to raise their voice against issues that are directly or indirectly affecting them and their society

The YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir (YPJK) provides young people an opportunity to stand strong utilize their energy and passion for making society a better place to live in.

The YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir is a youth forum working for the equity, justice & good conscience in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.

The YPJK is a non-political, social-legal forum with the aim to address the socio-economical aspects of all the three regions of Jammu & Kashmir.

The YPJK is youth based forum where there will be equal representation and equal opportunity for all sections of the society.

We the founder members are of the opinion that we as a youth has a greater responsibility to address the issues relating to the socio-economical development of the State.


What it means to be an MYP?


Being an MYP is a very exciting opportunity. Throughout your term of office you will have the chance to get involved in a range of activities.

For example, MYPs can meet with MPs and local government, organize events, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates, and ensure the views of young people are listened to by decision makers.

But the most important aspect of any MYP's job is to make sure they represent the views of the young people in their community.

The YPJK will welcome all youth of the State to join the membership list at;

Membership fee is Rs. 500/year (Executive Membership) Rs. 100/year (General Membership)

The YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir will have five sub-regional offices at Kargil, Baramulla, Anantnag, Doda & Poonch.

The members of YOUTH PARLIAMENT will have to submit the necessary document and other information with regards to the eligibility as a Member of Youth Parliament [MYP] which includes: Application form, State Subject, I.D. Card (Proof), 4 (Four) photographs, Any Specialization (attach certificate) + membership due as per plan.

The YPJK also provides an opportunity to its members to get affiliated with Youth for Human Rights International by adding to your basic membership fee, Rs. 100 for Students and Rs.200 for Professionals.

As an YPJK members you will get the membership kit absolutely free which includes T-Shirt, dairy, badges, campaign material, monthly magazine and many more;

The YPJK in particular welcomes law students' across the State to join hands to make people aware about their rights and duties in the society. The YPJK will give free membership of Law Students' Forum (International), J&K to law students' so that they can support the other socio-legal initiatives taken up by LSF, J&K for better coordination in maintaining peace and harmony in the State

The YPJK will establish a scholarship program under Youth Educational Support (YES) to support the deprived and poor students who are not able to carry on their studies.

The membership will be open to the permanent resident of the State & person residing outside.

The YPJK will work on four tire system means at International Level [International Youth Council], National Level [National Youth Council], State Level [State Youth Council] and District Level [District Youth Council].

All members elected to the first council {State Youth Council} will be members of the General Executive Council and have greater responsibility than second council {District Youth Council}

The YPJK will also have three regional headquarters at Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh headed by the regional heads i.e., [Regional Directors].

The YPJK will be administered by the Executive Council of Youth Parliament headed by the elected President and other members as; 3 (three) Regional Directors, 5 (five) Sub-Regional Directors and 2 (two) dedicated Members of Youth Parliament as Independent Observers.

The first year budget of the YPJK will be supported by the corporate houses, donations, membership dues and by many other activities like fundraising function, collaborations, sponsoring etc.

YPJK will organize the annual tour for 5 (five) Members of YOUTH PARLIAMENT to the other neighboring countries like Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Srilanka, Maldives, Bangladesh. The annual tour will be fully sponsored by the YOUTH PARLIAMENT of Jammu & Kashmir in collaborations with International organization like Amnesty International, Action Aid International, South Asia Foundation etc.
